Wike Affirms PDP's Unity Amid Internal Disagreements

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Governor of Rivers State, asserted that it would be incorrect to suggest that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has factions. Speaking to journalists in Abuja while inspecting various ongoing infrastructure projects, Wike explained that disagreements among party members are a normal aspect of political dynamics and do not indicate the existence of multiple factions within the party.

He emphasized that the PDP remains a single political entity despite internal disagreements and ongoing discussions aimed at reconciling aggrieved members. Wike noted that efforts to resolve disputes and restore unity within the party are already underway.

He also clarified that the upcoming PDP national convention, scheduled for March 29-30, will not impede these reconciliation efforts. Furthermore, Wike highlighted the tight timeline leading to the party's primary elections, expected to take place between April 23 and May 13, according to the provisions of the Electoral Act guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
