Oyo Lawmaker Dawood Olaler Defects to ADC from PDP

Dawood Olaler, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan North West, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His resignation letter, dated February 13, 2026, was addressed to the PDP chairman of Ward 7 in Ibadan North West Local Government Area.

Olaler attributed his resignation to ongoing internal conflicts within the PDP, describing the situation as a result of long-standing unresolved divisions that have plagued the party. His move comes amid a series of significant exits from the PDP in Oyo State, including former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Agboola Ayoola, who resigned in October 2025.

Other notable exits include former governor Rashidi Ladoja and Bisi Ilaka, the former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, who resigned last week. The ADC leadership has welcomed Olaler's defection, viewing it as a significant boost to the party's structure and prospects for future elections.
