Italy Pursues Stronger Economic Ties with Nigeria

Italy aims to strengthen its economic partnership with Nigeria, as articulated by Italian Ambassador Roberto Mengoni during the celebration of Italy's 80th National Day in Abuja. Mengoni reaffirmed Italy's commitment to deepening bilateral relations and expressed optimism regarding the resolution of the long-standing Eni dispute, which is expected to create new investment opportunities and bolster economic cooperation between the two nations.

He emphasized the contributions of Italian companies to Nigeria's infrastructure and energy sectors since 1930. Furthermore, Mengoni noted the engagement between Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who plan to co-chair a major global partnership education conference later in the year.

The ambassador's remarks also reflected the evolving relationship between Italy and Nigeria, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration in various sectors.
