Wike's Aide Claims Peter Obi Gave Money to PDP Delegates

Lere Olayinka, a media aide to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, alleged that Peter Obi distributed money to delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while seeking the party's presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 general election. During an appearance on AIT’s Democracy Today, Olayinka challenged the notion that Obi does not spend money in politics, stating he was a delegate in Ekiti State in 2022 and personally received money from Obi during his consultations with delegates.

Olayinka noted that while the amount Obi provided may have been less than what other aspirants offered, he still gave money. He emphasized that spending money is an integral part of seeking political office, drawing parallels with political campaigns in the United States and other countries, where financial resources are similarly deployed.
