NDC Aide Claims Peter Obi's Party Can't Win 2027 Election

Lere Olayinka, the media aide to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, claimed that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), which has nominated Peter Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, is aware that it cannot secure victory. During an appearance on Arise TV’s Morning Show, Olayinka stated that all NDC candidates, including Obi, are merely attempting to establish their presence in the upcoming election.

He pointed out that the NDC failed to field governorship candidates in approximately 15 states, indicating a lack of political structure necessary for winning the election. Olayinka remarked, “You don’t have a governorship candidate in 15 states.

You only have in 13,” and noted that the NDC did not participate in recent elections in Ekiti and Osun. He expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be re-elected in the January election.
