Peter Obi Affirms Friendship with Nyesom Wike Amid Differences

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, stated in a virtual interview that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, appeared happier when they worked together. Obi recalled their collaboration when Wike served as Minister of State for Education from 2011 to 2014 while Obi was governor of Anambra State.

During this period, Wike visited Anambra to inspect educational projects initiated by Obi's administration. Obi emphasized that despite their current political differences, he still considers Wike a friend.

He addressed claims that Wike would target him if he became president, clarifying that his ambition is focused on addressing Nigeria's challenges rather than pursuing political opponents. Obi also referenced photographs from their time together, noting Wike's healthier appearance, which he linked to Wike's happiness during their collaboration.

He reiterated that he holds no personal grievances against Wike and believes that wealth does not guarantee happiness.
