VeryDarkMan Threatens MTN Over Dangote IPO Ads

Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has announced plans to sue telecommunications company MTN over unsolicited promotional messages he received regarding the Dangote Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO). He expressed concerns about how his phone number, linked to his National Identification Number (NIN), was used without his consent for advertisements encouraging participation in the IPO.

VeryDarkMan stated that he would have his lawyers contact MTN if an explanation is not provided. He criticized the handling of personal information by telecommunications companies, questioning whether MTN had obtained the necessary consent for such promotional use.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE had launched its public offer on September 14, 2023, offering 4.1 billion shares at N525 each, aiming to raise approximately N2.15 trillion. The IPO is positioned as a significant opportunity for Nigerians to invest in Africa's largest refinery, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares.
