Police Invite VeryDarkMan Over Kidnap Allegations

The Nigeria Police Force has formally invited social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to present evidence supporting his allegations made during the Nigerian Bar Association conference in Port Harcourt. Otse claimed that police officers at checkpoints identify wealthy travelers and relay their information to kidnappers, facilitating abductions for ransom.

In response, the police, through their Force Public Relations Officer CSP Ani Iniedu, rejected these allegations as serious, unsubstantiated, and damaging to the institution. The police emphasized that such claims require substantial evidence, which has not been provided.

They stated that officers at checkpoints are tasked with preventing crime and protecting citizens, not facilitating kidnappings. The police also noted that their personnel face attacks and casualties while confronting criminal elements.

They urged anyone with credible evidence of police misconduct to report it through proper channels, warning against blanket accusations that could undermine public trust in the police force.
