Adeeko Advocates for Women's Rights on International Women's Day

On Sunday, during the observance of International Women's Day 2026, Adeneki Isi Adeeko, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Whiski Mistress, urged for stronger actions to protect the rights, dignity, and opportunities of women and girls across Nigeria. Adeeko emphasized that stakeholders must move beyond rhetoric to ensure that women's rights become a reality.

She highlighted that millions of women, particularly those facing displacement and migration, struggle with socio-economic barriers and lack access to justice and essential services. Adeeko pointed out that women and girls in Nigeria continue to confront systemic inequities, which are exacerbated by poverty, lack of legal identification, insecurity, and inadequate funding for programs meant to support vulnerable women.

She called for prioritizing safe housing and stronger protective systems for vulnerable women, urging policymakers to enhance laws protecting women's rights and improve access to legal identification. Adeeko also stressed the importance of the private sector in advancing women's empowerment initiatives and creating inclusive environments for women to thrive.
