Iyabo Obasanjo Rejoins PDP, Supports Deputy Candidate

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has officially rejoined the People's Democratic Party (PDP) after resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC) last week. Her return became evident on Monday when she made a surprise appearance at the PDP secretariat in Abeokuta during the unveiling of Kolapo Sowunmi as the deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

Iyabo Obasanjo's re-entry was welcomed enthusiastically by party members and leaders, including Ladi Adebutu, the PDP governorship candidate, and Abayomi Tella, the state chairman. She raised Sowunmi's hand in a show of support.

Iyabo Obasanjo had defected to the APC in January but announced her resignation due to what she described as persistent disrespect and maltreatment from the APC leadership in Ogun State. She urged voters to remain vigilant and protect their votes in the upcoming elections, warning against potential vote stealing similar to incidents in the 2019 and 2023 elections.
