JAMB To Screen Over 500 Underage Candidates Sept

JAMB is set to screen over 500 exceptional candidates under the age of 16 seeking admission to tertiary institutions for the upcoming academic session. The screening exercise will take place from September 22 to 26 in three venues: Lagos, Abuja, and Owerri.

The decision was made during a virtual meeting of a special technical committee set by JAMB, led by the registrar Ishaq Oloyede. The committee aims to ensure that underage candidates who excelled in the 2025 UTME are mentally and psychologically prepared for higher education.

Candidates will face a test followed by a brief oral interview to verify their eligibility. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Education's directive to set a minimum entry age of 16 for tertiary institutions.

Several universities have already agreed to admit underage candidates under these circumstances.
