Jang Rejects Wike's PDP Congress in Plateau as 'Kangaroo'

Jonah Jang, the former governor of Plateau State, has publicly rejected the recent congress of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) organized by a faction loyal to Nyesom Wike, describing it as a "kangaroo" exercise. The congress, held last Tuesday, reportedly resulted in the election of Peter Tongshep as the new state chairman and 38 executive members.

Jang's statement, issued on Monday, emphasized that the exercise was orchestrated by individuals pursuing personal interests and collaborating with forces outside the state. He reaffirmed that Raymond Dabo remains the authentic chairman of the PDP in Plateau State, as recognized by the party's state working committee and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Jang attributed the ongoing crisis within the PDP to efforts at the national level and urged party members to remain united to avoid actions that could deepen internal divisions. The leadership crisis within the state chapter of the PDP appears to be worsening, highlighting the deepening divisions within the party in Plateau State.
