Plateau PDP Faces Crisis After New Chairman Elected

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State is experiencing a fresh internal crisis after the election of Peter Tongshep as the new state chairman on Tuesday. This election was conducted by a faction aligned with Nyesom Wike and took place during a congress that was heavily secured to ensure order.

The congress attracted notable figures from the Wike faction, including former Sports Minister Damishi Sango and other party stakeholders. Dr.

Samaila Rukuba has been identified as the newly elected PDP spokesman for the state, describing the congress as peaceful and orderly. However, the official Plateau State chapter of the PDP quickly dismissed the notion of a fresh congress, with Hon.

Choji Felix Dalyop emphasizing that the current leadership, led by Hon. Raymond Dabo, emerged from a peaceful and transparent election held on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

This election produced a chairman and 38 executive members, adhering to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines and the PDP constitution.
