Lagos to Host 2026 WTT Contender Tournament

The 2026 WTT Contender tournament is scheduled to occur in Lagos, Nigeria, from May 19 to May 24, featuring top table tennis nations such as Japan, Korea, Germany, France, Denmark, the USA, India, and others. The event will be held at the Molad Okoya Thomas Hall and the Teslim Balogun Stadium, part of the 10-event WTT Contender series.

The tournament will offer a total prize pool of $100,000 across five days of competition. Local organizing committee chairman Adesoji Tayo stated that the tournament aims to showcase elite-level table tennis in Africa and underscores Nigeria's growing influence on the global sports stage.

This year's event coincides with the centenary anniversary of table tennis in London, and Lagos is prepared to deliver an unforgettable experience filled with cultural energy. The tournament will feature 32 players in men's and women's singles, 16 pairs in men's and women's doubles, and 8 pairs in mixed doubles.
