Jeffries and Kushner Meet Before Midterm Elections

US House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries held a private meeting with Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and adviser, in New York City, less than three months before the November midterm elections. The discussions focused on housing, immigration, and the rising cost of living, aiming to identify potential areas of common ground.

Jeffries did not confirm the meeting but criticized the Republican governing style, stating that Democrats would not accept a "my-way-or-the-highway" approach. Kushner, although not holding an official position in the Trump administration, continues to advise the president on international diplomatic matters.

House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed he was unaware of the meeting until he saw reports about it. Despite past public clashes, Trump has indicated a willingness to work with Jeffries, referring to him as a "nice guy" during an interview.
