Jigawa Declares Work-Free Day for Islamic New Year 1448

The Jigawa State Government has officially declared Tuesday, June 16, 2026, as a work-free day to commemorate the beginning of the Islamic New Year 1448. The announcement was made in a statement issued by the state head of civil service, Alhaji Muhammad K.

Dagaceri, and signed by the public relations office, represented by Isma Ila Ibrahim Duts. The work-free day is intended to enable civil servants and residents of Jigawa State to actively participate in activities that mark the Islamic New Year and reflect on its spiritual significance.

Dagaceri urged workers and the general public to use this occasion to offer prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Jigawa State. He also called on citizens to uphold the teachings of Islam and emulate the exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Furthermore, the government appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and avoid actions that could undermine the prevailing peace and harmony across the state. The government expressed hope that the new Islamic year would usher in a renewed commitment to moral values and peaceful coexistence among the people of Jigawa.
