Son Arrested for Setting Father Ablaze in Jigawa

On April 1, 2026, at approximately 6:30 PM, Kabiru Nuhu, a 27-year-old man, allegedly set his 60-year-old father on fire in Magama Quarter, Kazaur Local Government Area, Jigawa State. The incident was confirmed by the Jigawa State Police Command, which reported that preliminary investigations revealed Kabiru poured a flammable substance, suspected to be petrol, on his father's body before igniting it.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, the police quickly responded to reports and arrested Kabiru Nuhu.

He is facing charges of patricide, a serious offense under Nigerian law. The police spokesperson, Haruna Yahaya, condemned the act and assured the public that justice would be served.

He also urged residents to seek peaceful resolutions to disputes and report any incidents of domestic violence to the nearest police station.
