15-Year-Old Arrested for Alleged Murder of Aunt in Kwara

On January 14, 2026, the Kwara State Police Command arrested a 15-year-old boy named Gobir Yusuf in connection with the alleged murder of his aunt, who is identified as the younger sister of Mr. Akanbi. The police commissioner, Adekimi Ojo, disclosed details during a press conference in Ilorin.

The suspect reportedly concealed the body behind a door after attacking the victim with household items, including a frying pan, kitchen knife, kitchen turner, and weighing scale. During interrogation, Gobir Yusuf confessed to the act, stating that his motivation stemmed from a previous failed attempt to poison the deceased.

The police recovered the items used in the attack, and it was revealed that the suspect had earlier attempted to poison the victim's soup and watermelon, which did not result in death. After committing the offense, Gobir changed his clothes and left the residence under the pretext of running an errand, later contacting the deceased's husband, who discovered her lifeless body in a pool of blood.
