Jigawa Police Cite Community Intelligence in Crime Prevention

The Jigawa State Police Command has attributed its success in crime prevention to effective community intelligence gathering. Police Commissioner Haruna Yahaya disclosed this during a presentation titled "Community Policing and Community-Based Intelligence Gathering" at the 48th Armed Forces Command and Staff College study tour in Jigawa.

Yahaya stressed that modern policing requires strong collaboration between security agencies and local communities. He noted that credible intelligence from the public has been instrumental in combating crimes such as armed robbery, motorcycle theft, drug abuse, rape, culpable homicide, mob violence, and farmer-herder conflicts.

The initiative aligns with the vision of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, focusing on intelligence-led policing. Yahaya urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing information to prevent threats to peace and stability.

The command also aims to deepen collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure lasting peace and security in Jigawa State.
