Jigawa CP Haruna Alaba Outlines Seven Security Priorities

Haruna Alaba, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, has identified seven priority areas during his inaugural press briefing on Tuesday at the Jigawa State Police Headquarters in Dutsin-Ma. His focus includes strengthening intelligence gathering and sharing mechanisms to preempt crime across the state.

Alaba emphasized the necessity of community engagement, noting that police success relies on trust and cooperation with the public. He plans to conduct regular consultations with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to build mutual trust and accountability.

Alaba warned that the command would adopt a firm stance against various forms of crime, including armed robbery, cattle rustling, drug trafficking, and vandalism, ensuring that criminals have no safe haven in the state. He also highlighted the need for professional discipline among police personnel, respect for human rights, and improved welfare for officers.

Alaba called for public support in providing credible information to the police to enhance service delivery.
