Jigawa State Judge Sadisu Haruna Retired for Corruption

The Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission has approved the compulsory retirement of Shari’a Court judge Sadisu Muhammad Haruna due to misconduct. This decision was confirmed in a statement issued by the commission's Director of Protocol and Public Relations, Mr.

Abba Wangara, on Tuesday. The commission conducted a thorough review of a petition submitted by Abdullahi Hamza, which led to an investigation revealing that Judge Haruna was guilty of corruption.

Specifically, he demanded to collect charges for petitions that were not provided in the scheduled court fee, violating the Jigawa Shari’a Court Civil Procedure Rule 2012. This act of extortion was deemed a gross violation of judicial ethics and an abuse of office.

The commission emphasized its zero tolerance for corruption and abuse of power within the judiciary. Additionally, the commission promoted 80 staff members across various categories and appointed senior staff to various positions within the state Shari’a Court.
