Nigeria's Youth Minister Launches National Data Registration

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated a registration process for Nigerians aged 15 to 35 with the National Youth Data Bank (NYDB) to identify their skills, locations, and needs. The launch occurred on Tuesday in Abuja, led by the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande.

This initiative aims to connect young Nigerians with employment and skills opportunities in both public and private sectors. The registration is inclusive of youths in agriculture, sports, creative industries, and technology.

Olawande emphasized the importance of reliable data for understanding the youth population and enhancing program planning. Otunba Oluyinka Akerele, Managing Director and CEO of POGMA Nigeria Limited, the project's technical partner, stated that registration points would be established in educational institutions and later expanded to local government areas.

Enumerators will be deployed across all 774 local government areas to capture data from young Nigerians, including those in hard-to-reach communities. Akerele encouraged youth participation to ensure they benefit from government initiatives.
