Johnson Wins First National Title in 400m Hurdles

Johnson, an Edo-born athlete, claimed his first national title in the men's 400m hurdles at the Nigerian trials, finishing with a time of 45.76 seconds. His victory is particularly significant as it follows his recent switch to represent Nigeria in athletics.

Johnson described the experience as memorable, despite the challenges of adapting to a new environment, culture, and food. He emphasized the importance of patience and faith throughout his journey, stating that he learned not to try to control everything but to focus on doing his best and trusting the outcome.

Achakpoekiri finished second with a time of 45.91 seconds, while Emmanuel Oj placed third at 45.94 seconds. Veteran athlete Chidi Okezi also impressed with a season's best time of 46.25 seconds.
