Amaechi Reveals Reasons for Leaving PDP Amid Tensions

Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State, revealed in an interview that he departed from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) due to significant internal conflicts. He attributed his exit to the control exerted by former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan, over the party's structure in Rivers State, which made it challenging for him to continue within the party.

Amaechi noted that this situation was similar to his experiences in the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he also faced difficulties. He participated in the presidential primary elections against President Bola Tinubu, but the outcomes within the party made his position uncomfortable, ultimately leading to his decision to leave.

His political journey has been shaped by these experiences across different parties, highlighting the internal disagreements over leadership control that played a significant role in his movement.
