Chibok Girl and 54 Students Begin Aviation Studies

Ihsan Yakubu, a Chibok girl, along with 54 other students, has resumed studies at Isaac Balami University in Lagos, participating in a specialized aviation program. The ceremony marked their departure from Borno State, where parents expressed mixed emotions about their children's life-changing opportunities.

The program, sponsored by the Borno State Government under Governor Babagana Zulum, aims to empower youth through education, particularly in aviation, which is facing a significant manpower deficit in Africa. The students will study various engineering disciplines alongside intensive pilot training, with a curriculum designed to integrate academic learning with practical experience.

The initiative is part of a broader recovery strategy for Borno State, which has faced educational setbacks due to prolonged insurgency. The Borno State Government is also sponsoring students in other fields such as medicine and nursing in countries like China, Egypt, and India, highlighting a commitment to restoring educational opportunities and hope for the future.
