Borno Government Launches N2.5bn Scholarship Program

On Thursday, the Borno State Government, under the leadership of Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, announced a scholarship program for students attending Isaac Balami University, Africa's first indigenous aviation university.

During a ceremony at the Government House in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum presented a cheque of N2.5 billion to cover the annual school fees for the beneficiaries. He commended Isaac Balami, the university's founder, for his commitment to education and the scholarship initiative, which will also support an additional 54 indigent students from the state.

Zulum emphasized the importance of academic dedication and urged the students to become good ambassadors for Borno State. The scholarship program received 200 applications statewide, with 120 shortlisted for written examinations, resulting in 54 successful candidates.

Furthermore, Zulum announced financial support of N500,000 for each student to assist with resumption expenses, highlighting the government's commitment to education in Borno State.
