Chibok Girl and 54 Others Begin Aviation Studies

Ihsan Yakubu, a Chibok girl, is among 54 beneficiaries who have resumed studies at Isaac Balami University in a specialized aviation program. The event was marked by emotional ceremonies, where Yakubu expressed confidence in women's potential in aviation.

The program, supported by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, aims to transform the futures of students from the region, emphasizing merit-based selection to ensure equal opportunities. Chancellor Ibuam Isaac Balami highlighted that students will study aerospace engineering, mechatronic engineering, and undergo intensive pilot training.

The university has received special approval from the National Universities Commission to implement a unique training model that combines academic learning with practical experience. This initiative is part of a broader recovery strategy for Borno State, which has faced educational setbacks due to prolonged school closures from insurgency.

The program is designed to address the aviation industry's projected need for 29,000 pilots and 31,000 aircraft engineers in the next decade.
