Chibok Girl and 54 Students Begin Aviation Studies

Ihsan Yakubu, a Chibok girl, along with 54 other students, resumed their studies at Isaac Balami University in Lagos, participating in a ceremony that highlighted their journey and aspirations in aviation. The event marked a significant moment for the students, who are beneficiaries of a specialized aviation program sponsored by the Borno State Government under Governor Babagana Zulum.

Yakubu expressed her confidence that women can excel in aviation, encouraging others to pursue their dreams. The university will offer a four-year curriculum combining aerospace engineering, mechatronics, and pilot training, with a unique model integrating academic learning with practical experience.

The Borno State Government's initiative aims to address the manpower deficit in the aviation sector, which is projected to require 29,000 pilots and 31,000 aircraft engineers in the next decade. The program is part of a broader recovery strategy to restore education in Borno State, which has faced significant setbacks due to prolonged insurgency.
