Judge Withdraws from Trial Involving Malami's Son Over N9 Billion Property Conspiracy

Justice Egwuatu announced his decision to step aside from presiding over a case involving Abdulaziz Malami, son of Nigeria's Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, and two others. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Abdulaziz Malami, Bashir Malami, and a staff member of Rahamanniyya Properties Ltd on 16 counts of conspiracy to conceal properties valued at over N9 billion.

The properties in question are located in prime areas of Abuja, Kebbi, and Kano states. The defense is accused of concealing the origin of these properties, which have a combined value exceeding N9 billion.

The judge cited personal reasons for recusing himself from the case, which involves significant allegations of financial crimes and corruption.
