Junior Aruna Wins Silver at WTT Youth Contender France

Junior Aruna, a promising Nigerian table tennis player, secured a silver medal at the WTT Youth Contender series held in Metz, France, on a late Wednesday. This achievement continues his streak as one of the brightest young talents in the sport.

He traveled to France with his mother, Ganiat, who is also his coach and a former international player. Junior competed in the boys' U11 category, starting his campaign with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Brazil's Rafael Suguimoto.

He faced a tough match against French opponent Lyazid Idrissi, narrowly losing 2-3, which denied him the gold medal. However, he bounced back with a commanding 3-0 win against Nolan Lhuissier to secure the silver.

Ganiat expressed that the experience was valuable for Junior, despite the challenges of balancing coaching and care during the trip. Meanwhile, his sister Mariam, aged 13, finished in the top 32 of the girls' U15 event but did not advance to the main draw in the U17 division.
