Bandits Kidnap Residents in Kwara State Midnight Attack

In a midnight attack on Thursday, bandits invaded multiple communities in Kwara State, leading to the kidnapping of several residents and the death of one individual. The assault occurred around 10 PM, affecting areas such as Gaa Ok Abba, Gaa Alla, and Famol in the Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Local sources reported that at least two people were abducted from Gaa Alla, while the exact number of victims from Gaa Ok Abba remains unconfirmed. Residents fled to nearby bushes during the attack, and families spent the night trying to account for missing individuals.

The situation escalated as local vigilantes attempted to resist the attackers, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. Although the assailants eventually withdrew, tensions remain high among residents, particularly along the shared Okeod road near Oyi River.

This incident highlights the growing insecurity affecting rural communities in Kwara, with residents repeatedly expressing concerns over kidnappings and violent attacks. Local authorities have been urged to enhance surveillance and increase security personnel in vulnerable areas to prevent further incidents.
