Baruwa Takes Over NURTW Leadership from MC Oluomo

Tajudeen Baruwa has officially taken over the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) secretariat in Abuja, effectively unseating Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo. This leadership change follows a series of court decisions that reshaped the union's leadership structure.

Baruwa arrived at the secretariat on Monday, supported by various factions across the country, marking a significant moment in the prolonged dispute within the union. He emphasized compliance with court rulings and expressed a commitment to peace, despite tensions surrounding the takeover.

The legal battle culminated in a judgment from the National Industrial Court, which upheld Baruwa's election as president of the union. The court's decision, delivered on November 8, 2023, confirmed Baruwa's leadership and dismissed an appeal filed by MC Oluomo's loyalists, imposing costs against them.

Baruwa's faction aims to reclaim the union's operations peacefully, adhering to legal directives and ensuring no unrest arises during this transition.
