Oluomo Reclaims NURTW Office Amid Alleged Takeover

On Tuesday, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, known as Oluomo, reclaimed the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) office after a reported unlawful takeover by former president Kayod Agbeyangi. The incident took place at the NURTW secretariat in Abuja around 7:00 AM, where Agbeyangi and others allegedly stormed the premises, disrupting normal activities and preventing staff from resuming work.

Agbeyangi condemned the actions as a breach of due process, emphasizing that the former president should have followed established legal procedures instead of resorting to force. The takeover resulted in significant damage to union property, including valuable furniture.

Akinsanya stated that the actions were not in accordance with any court judgment and urged union members to remain calm and peaceful. He also noted that several cases concerning the union are still pending in court.

The situation has raised concerns about the potential for further conflict within the union.
