Benin Traditional Council Addresses Unauthorized Palace Visit

The Benin Traditional Council has issued a statement regarding an unauthorized visit by social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, popularly known as Peller, to the Benin Palace on March 6, 2026. The council, represented by Secretary Frank Irabor, described the visit as a serious breach of protocol and a desecration of the sacred precincts of the palace.

The council has invited Peller to appear before a committee to explain the circumstances of his visit, which they view as causing significant embarrassment and a breach of peace within the palace grounds. Additionally, the council has taken preliminary disciplinary measures against palace staff involved in facilitating this unauthorized entry, including the indefinite suspension of a chief aide.

The queen of the palace is also facing serious disciplinary proceedings that may lead to her removal. The council has demanded a public apology from Peller and warned of potential legal action if he fails to comply.
