Edo ADC Suspends Oyegun and Others Over Allegations

The Edo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the suspension of several key members, including national leader John Odigi Oyegun, former Edo State governor Osareimen Osunbor, and party chieftain Ehigi Uzamar. This decision, made public on Wednesday, is attributed to accusations of engaging in activities deemed harmful to the party's unity and structure.

The suspension affects other members such as Yisa Braimah, Nosa Ehima, Sylvest Ewanehi, Toni Alil, Jafaru Sumaila, Stella Alli, Igieogb Asemota, and Christoph Ojeiker. The faction, led by Kennedi Odion, cited multiple articles of the party's constitution to justify the suspensions, which will last no longer than three months pending the outcome of an investigation by the state disciplinary committee.

The affected members have the right to appeal within 14 days of receiving notice, with decisions to be made within 21 days. Oyegun dismissed the suspension as baseless and not worthy of serious attention, while Toni Alil, the newly elected state chairman, rejected the legitimacy of the faction behind the suspension.
