JUST-IN: EFCC Grills Ex-Gov Tambuwal Over N189bn Cash Withdrawals

Former Sokoto State governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, was questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over suspicious cash withdrawals amounting to N189 billion. Tambuwal arrived at the EFCC headquarters on Monday and is still being interrogated for alleged financial crimes.

The agency detained him to answer questions about the massive cash withdrawals during his tenure as governor. While the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, did not comment on the issue, a source confirmed Tambuwal's arrest.

The withdrawals are said to be a violation of the Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Act of 2022. Tambuwal is yet to respond to the allegations.
