JUST IN: El-Rufai, Tambuwal Meet in Abuja [PHOTOS]

Former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, recently visited former Sokoto State governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, in Abuja. This meeting took place a day after Tambuwal was released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he was questioned about alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals amounting to billions.

Tambuwal, a close political associate of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, honored the EFCC summons on August 11, 2025, and was released the following day after interrogation. The ongoing probe is focusing on transactions linked to Tambuwal's tenure as Sokoto State governor from 2015 to 2023, with investigators examining possible breaches of the Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Act of 2022.

Tambuwal, an opposition figure and member of a coalition recently adopted by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform ahead of the 2027 general election.
