Fubara Presents ₦1.854 Trillion Budget for 2026 in Rivers

On Friday, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State arrived at the Rivers State House of Assembly to present the proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year, amounting to ₦1.854 trillion. The budget is designed to promote resilient growth and development, focusing on infrastructure, human capital development, security, and economic growth while ensuring fiscal discipline and effective management of public funds.

Despite challenges faced by the state administration, Fubara emphasized the commitment to delivering effective governance and progress across key sectors, attributing the state's financial stability to prudent financial management and transparency. The proposed budget reflects a 24.49% increase from the 2025 adjusted budget, with expected revenue sources including Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), federal allocations, grants, loans, and asset sales.

The budget anticipates an opening balance of ₦487.61 billion and an estimated closing balance of ₦48.11 billion.
