Terrorism Trial Reveals Tukur Mamu's Alleged Involvement in Kaduna Train Kidnap Ransom

In a terrorism trial in Kaduna, Tukur Mamu is accused of securing a share in a N50 million ransom for the Kaduna train kidnap in March 2022. Mamu allegedly communicated directly with the terrorist group holding the kidnapped passengers, instructing them on ransom payments.

He is also accused of advising the terrorists to negotiate ransom payments directly with the families of the hostages instead of involving the government. Mamu's involvement in the case includes contacting an accomplice in Egypt to remove cash and valuables from his Kaduna residence to avoid seizure.

The State Security Service (SSS) presented evidence of Mamu's communication with the terrorist group and his financial transactions. Mamu's devices revealed incriminating voice recordings and materials.

Mamu admitted to giving instructions during interrogation.
