South-South Governors Endorse Tinubu for 2027 Election

On Thursday, the South-South Governors' Forum convened in Calabar, where six governors from the region formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's candidacy for re-election in 2027. Governor Duoye Diri, chairing the Forum, presented a communiqué outlining their collective support and key development demands for the region.

The summit included Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State as the host, while the governors of Delta, Edo, and Rivers states were represented by their deputies. The discussions centered on the economic development of the South-South and enhancing regional cooperation.

The governors resolved to request a meeting with President Tinubu to advocate for infrastructure development and environmental remediation, emphasizing the need for federal intervention beyond the ongoing clean-up of Ogoniland. They also scheduled quarterly meetings, with the next set for November 6 to 8, 2026, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The communiqué praised Governor Bassey Otu and the people of Cross River State for their hospitality.
