500 Clerics Endorse Tinubu for 2027 Presidential Bid

Over 500 Islamic clerics have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office following a closed-door meeting in Jigawa State. The meeting included six northern governors from the All Progressives Congress, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, and Ibrahim Masari, who is Tinubu's Special Adviser on Political Matters.

The gathering represented a significant coalition of northern political leaders and religious figures, indicating an early effort to consolidate support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. The identities of the six APC governors present were not disclosed.

Masari has been a key figure in Tinubu's political outreach since the 2023 election cycle. The endorsement from the clerics is one of the largest displays of support from Nigeria's Islamic community since Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.

With the 2027 presidential election approaching in roughly five months, Tinubu's camp is actively seeking broad regional and religious backing.
