Kano State Closes Event Centers for Ramadan Observance

The Kano State Government has mandated the immediate closure of all event centers across the state in preparation for the Ramadan fasting period. This directive, announced by Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman from the Kano State Censorship Board, will take effect on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

The event centers, commonly referred to as gala houses, will remain closed until the end of Ramadan, specifically at 10:00 PM daily. The board's action aims to create a calm and respectful environment for residents observing the fast without distractions.

The suspension of entertainment activities will last throughout the fasting period, with the reopening date, particularly for Eid celebrations, to be communicated at a later time. The board has urged event center owners and DJs to fully comply with this directive, warning that enforcement teams will be deployed across the state to ensure adherence.

The decision falls within the board's responsibility to regulate entertainment activities and promote moral and social order during this religious season.
