Kano State Shuts Entertainment for Ramadan Observance

The Kano State Censorship Board issued a directive on Tuesday, mandating the immediate suspension of all entertainment centers and DJ activities throughout Kano State. This decision is effective from Wednesday, February 18, 2026, as part of the preparations for the holy month of Ramadan.

The board, represented by its public relations officer Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, stated that the shutdown aims to enable residents to observe the Ramadan fast and engage in religious activities in a peaceful and undisturbed environment. The board emphasized that this action aligns with its statutory mandate to regulate entertainment activities within the state.

It also called on stakeholders in the entertainment industry to fully comply with this directive, highlighting the importance of a healthy and peaceful observance of the holy month.
