Kano Censorship Board Shuts Down DJs, Gala Houses for Ramadan

The Kano State Censorship Board, represented by Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman on behalf of Chairman Abba El Mustapha, has mandated that all DJs and gala houses in Kano shut down their operations until after Ramadan. This order is set to take effect at 10:00 PM on February 18, 2026.

The board explained that this measure is intended to create a peaceful atmosphere conducive to worship during the holy month of Ramadan. The specific date for reopening, particularly for the Eid celebrations, will be announced at an appropriate time.

The board has urged all stakeholders to comply with this directive, emphasizing that the suspension is part of its mandate to regulate entertainment activities within the state. The agency also expressed hopes for the health and peace of residents, wishing blessings upon the community throughout the holy month.
