Justice Crack's Bail Hearing Stalled, Adjourned to May 18

The bail hearing for Justice Chidieber, popularly known as Justice Crack, was stalled on Thursday at the Federal High Court in Abuja due to disagreements among his legal team. Femi Balogun, the lead counsel for Justice Crack, accused fellow lawyer Marshal Abubakar of frustrating the bail process, leading to the withdrawal of an earlier bail application.

The court subsequently adjourned the matter until May 18 for a new application to be filed. Balogun argued that the withdrawal of the bail application was unjust and contrary to the interests of justice, emphasizing that the legal team should pursue the activist's liberty.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Rotimi Oyedepo, has taken over the prosecution of the case, which involves charges related to cyber offenses against the Nigerian Army. Justice Crack has been in custody since his arraignment on April 28, 2026, facing allegations of making false posts online that could incite hatred among citizens.
