Nafiu Bala Declares ADC Convention Led by Mark Invalid

Nafiu Bala, the faction chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared the convention led by David Mark on April 14, 2026, in Abuja as 'null and void'. Bala made this announcement during a press briefing, asserting that the convention lacked legal backing and violated a court ruling delivered on March 12, 2026.

He emphasized that the absence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the event indicated a lack of official recognition, rendering the process illegitimate. Bala accused the Mark-led group of disregarding the party's constitution and described their actions as lawless.

He also mentioned an ongoing case in the Federal High Court regarding the convention, which is currently pending and could be seen as contempt. Leke Abejide, a party chieftain, supported Bala's claims, criticizing the convention as unconstitutional and a defiance of court orders.

Bala's faction insists that they do not recognize the legitimacy of the convention or its outcomes.
