Okey Ndibe Released After DSS Questioning at Lagos Airport

Okey Ndibe, a prominent Nigerian author, regained his freedom after being questioned by the Department of State Services (DSS) at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Ndibe confirmed his release on Tuesday, stating he spent three hours with DSS operatives upon his arrival at the airport.

He expressed gratitude for the support he received from friends and associates during the incident. The DSS issued a statement clarifying that Ndibe was neither arrested nor detained, but rather was part of a routine verification process related to an ongoing review of a security watchlist.

This review aims to address long-standing entries on the watchlist dating back to the military era to prevent unnecessary difficulties for Nigerians. The DSS emphasized that individuals on the watchlist are often invited for routine interactions as part of the verification process.
