DLA Gives Tinubu 14-Day Ultimatum on Kidnappings

The Democrat Leadership Alliance (DLA) has given President Bola Tinubu a 14-day deadline to address the escalating issue of kidnappings in Nigeria. The DLA's statement, signed by Deputy National Public Secretary Judith Aguenu, describes the kidnapping crisis as a national emergency affecting the lives and economic activities of Nigerians.

The party criticizes recent government actions, including the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards, as insufficient to reassure citizens. They note that abductions have become increasingly frequent, with victims taken from highways, homes, schools, and places of worship.

The DLA argues that the security challenges are severely impacting agricultural productivity and contributing to food insecurity. They call for a comprehensive approach that includes deploying security personnel, addressing poverty and unemployment, and improving intelligence gathering.

The DLA insists that the government must act swiftly to protect lives and property, warning that failure to make progress within the stipulated period will compel them to pursue legal options to draw attention to the crisis.
