Abuja-Kaduna Train Derails, Passengers Injured in Panic

On Monday morning, an Abuja-Kaduna train derailed, resulting in injuries to several passengers. The incident occurred along the busy rail corridor linking the Federal Capital Territory and Kaduna State.

Sources within the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed the derailment, which caused a halt in train services midway through the journey. Eyewitness accounts describe a sudden loud bang followed by a violent jolt that threw passengers off their seats, leading to panic inside the coach.

Passengers reported sustaining cuts and bruises as they were flung against metal fittings within the train compartment. Social media user Sada Malumfashi shared that the moment was frightening, with passengers unprepared for the sudden jolt.

After the incident, the train remained stationary for approximately 30 minutes before resuming its journey slowly towards the Kubwa area on the outskirts of Abuja. NRC spokesperson Callistus Unyimadu was contacted for confirmation and promised a statement would be released regarding the incident.
