PDP Declares Wike a Key Asset Amid Defection Speculation

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has officially rejected the notion of Nyesom Wike's defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring him a valuable asset. PDP dismissed speculation regarding Wike's permanent move to APC, asserting that his role as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory does not alter his political identity or weaken the party.

PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, stated that Wike's leadership and performance in executing major projects in Abuja are commendable. The party acknowledged comments from APC National Chairman Nentaw Yilwatda, who praised Wike's contributions but clarified that Wike remains a committed and loyal member of PDP.

The party emphasized that there are no ongoing negotiations for a permanent transfer to APC and that Wike's service under the current administration is purely in the interest of national service. PDP reiterated its intent to retain Wike as a key political figure and asset, regardless of any overtures from APC.
